New method of listing housing projects

What is fullhouse.com.my about?
The portal is a free service to encourage agents and owners to provide as many listings as possible. We recently launched a new feature that allows users to browse through the complete online directory for apartments and condominiums in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Penang. All listings are accompanied by photos, map and general details. Our income mainly comes from housing developers who list their projects on the website.
Background
The website was set up in 2004 in Kelantan and after approaching the Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association of Kelantan, more than 30 developers participated within a few months. Many of them received online sales enquiries and some even managed to close sales. It was a surprise that this worked well even in Kelantan. In early 2007, fullhouse relocated to Penang and the website receives about 20,000 hits per day.
What do you think of the online property portals trend?
Surveys conducted in the US show that almost 80% of property seekers use the Internet as part of their home-searching process compared to Malaysia, which is less than 10%. That shows a huge potential for growth. Online property portals in Malaysia emerged about three to four years ago and many are still in their infancy. According to our statistics, the number of visitors is growing each year with many similar website mushrooming recently. More people have discovered the benefits of online property portals.
Online property portals vs the conventional means of selling/buying/renting real estate.
Some people are not very confident with "free" service offered by many online property portals. But there are many free good quality websites. Some property portals also allows users to monitor the number of visitors to their listings. Besides, online property listings will appear instantly upon submission. If you made mistake, some websites allow you to edit the details immediately compared to the print media where you have to wait at least one day for you listings to be published and mistakes cannot be changed once printed. Advertising online also creates a global presence. Although many still prefer printed media when it comes to advertising, but we believe the online advertising trend will grow tremendously in the near future as the Internet-savvy generation matures.
How effective is your website in driving property sales/rentals?
Developers and agents advertise their properties via many different channels. It is common for buyers to be exposed to the same property advertisement on various channels before making a decison. Thus, it is difficult to measure transactions successfully closed by listing at Fullhouse.com.my. However, from our survey, 70% of developers said they received positive response to their listings on our website.
